Effective October 20, 2026

This page explains what reloeco.com, ReloEco's website, collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Who the BETA is for

The BETA list is open to US residents aged 18 or older. This site is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think someone under 18 has joined, tell us and we will remove them.

Browsing this site

This site is a set of static pages. Apart from Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics, which run only if you allow them and are described below, it runs no analytics, no advertising and no tracking across other websites. Our own code sets no cookies; it remembers your analytics choice in your browser's local storage. We treat a browser's Global Privacy Control or “Do Not Track” signal as a request to keep analytics off.

Our web host, GoDaddy, can add its own script to the pages it serves to measure how they perform. Through it, GoDaddy may collect information about your visit under its own privacy policy. We did not add it and do not use it.

The sample Suitcase reports let you tick packing items and rate tips. Our code keeps those choices only in your browser's session storage for that report, does not send them anywhere, and discards them when you close the tab. If you have allowed analytics, Clarity's session recording can include those clicks, as it includes your other clicks on the page.

To know how people find us, this site notes in your browser's session storage the first page you open in a tab and when, plus — if you came from another website or from a link carrying campaign tags (such as utm_source) — that website's name and the tags. This note never keeps the full address of the page you came from. Our code sends it only with a sign-up, and it is discarded when you close the tab.

Analytics: Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics

Neither runs unless you choose “Accept” in the “Cookie preferences” banner. Until then, nothing from either is loaded, wherever you are.

Microsoft Clarity

If you allow analytics, we use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use this site, so we can improve it. Clarity makes a session recording of your visit — clicks, taps, scrolling, mouse movement and the pages you open, together with the page content you see — which we can replay, and builds heatmaps from many visits. What you type into forms is masked in your browser before anything is sent to Clarity, and Clarity also masks numbers and email addresses that appear in page text. Clarity also receives technical details such as your browser, your device and an approximate location derived from your IP address.

We also give Clarity short labels for steps in the site's journey, such as “sign-up form started” or “sign-up acknowledged”, and the kind of page you are on. Never your email address, your destination or anything else you type.

Microsoft provides Clarity and uses this data as an independent controller, under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. We tell Clarity not to use advertising storage and not to share data with Microsoft Advertising.

Cookies. Clarity sets two cookies on this site: _clck, which recognises your browser on later visits (for about a year), and _clsk, which links the pages of one visit (for about a day). Microsoft also lists cookies of its own that Clarity's services may set, such as MUID.

How long Microsoft keeps it. Clarity keeps session recordings for 30 days, and heatmaps, click data, a random sample of recordings and any recordings we save for 9 months. This data is held by Microsoft, not in our database, and is separate from how long we keep sign-ups.

Google Analytics

If you allow analytics, we also use Google Analytics to measure how visitors find and use this site: the pages you open, how you arrived (for example from a search engine, another website or a link carrying campaign tags), how far you scroll, links you follow to other websites and files you download. It also receives technical details such as your browser, device, language and screen size. Google receives your IP address as part of the connection and uses it to work out an approximate location; Google states that Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses.

Before anything is sent, our code removes from the page address everything except campaign tags that pass our checks (such as utm_source), and shortens the address of the page you came from to the name of its website. We also send Google Analytics short labels for steps in the site's journey, such as “sign-up form started”, “sign-up acknowledged” or the kind of sign-up error, with the button or form involved and the kind of page you are on. Never your email address, your destination, your travel dates or anything else you type.

Google provides Google Analytics and processes this data for us, as our processor, under Google's data processing terms, which we have accepted. We have switched off all four data-sharing options in our Google Analytics account, which would otherwise let Google use the data for its own products and services and for modelling and benchmarking, and let its technical-support and marketing specialists access it. Google still processes the data to provide the service; it explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

We keep Google's advertising features off: we tell Google Analytics that advertising storage, the use of your data for advertising and ad personalisation are all denied, Google signals and the account's ad personalisation settings are switched off, and we do not link it to Google Ads. Google Analytics recognises your browser by an identifier it keeps in its own cookie (below). We do not send your email address or a ReloEco account or subscriber identifier to Google Analytics.

Cookies. Google Analytics sets two cookies on this site, _ga, which distinguishes your browser, and one whose name begins with _ga_, which keeps track of your visit. We set them to expire 270 days (about nine months) after your last visit, and our code deletes them if you turn analytics off.

How long Google keeps it. Google keeps the detailed data linked to each browser for 14 months; reports that show only totals are not deleted with it. This data is held by Google, not in our database, and is separate from how long we keep sign-ups.

Your choices. “Analytics choices”, at the foot of every page of this site, including the sample reports, opens the banner again with your current choice (), so you can accept or reject at any time. “Reject” turns analytics off, and:

  • stops Google Analytics on the page you are on at once, by setting Google's own opt-out, which Google says stops its tag from sending data or setting cookies;
  • deletes the cookies both set on this site;
  • reloads the page you are on if Clarity was running on it, because Microsoft offers no way to stop Clarity on a page once it has started. Anything you had typed into a form and not sent is kept in your browser's session storage for the reload, put back, and then deleted; it is never put in the page address. If your browser does not let the site keep it, we do not reload, so you lose nothing, and Clarity stops when you leave the page;
  • does the same in other tabs of this site open in the same browser, if your browser lets the site remember your choice;
  • means neither is loaded on the pages you open afterwards.

Anything already sent stays with Google or Microsoft for the periods described above. We load neither if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or “Do Not Track” signal. Blocking either with a browser setting or extension does not affect the site, including the sign-up form. Google also offers a browser add-on that turns Google Analytics off on every website.

Joining the BETA list

If you join, we store:

  • your email address;
  • the page you signed up from and, on a product page, the product it is about;
  • the destination you typed on the home page, if any;
  • whether you also asked for the newsletter;
  • how you first arrived, as described above, if your browser kept it;
  • which version of the sign-up wording was shown to you, and when you joined.

We use this to invite you to the BETA and keep you updated about it, to send the newsletter only if you asked for it, and to understand how people find ReloEco. Joining the list does not create a ReloEco account or a login, and submitting an address does not confirm that it is yours. Joining also means accepting the Terms of use in force that day; the date of your sign-up shows which version that was.

Sign-ups are stored in our database, which is hosted by Supabase. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.

Email is not switched on yet. Until it is, we send no BETA or newsletter email (we only reply if you write to us), and we do not pass your sign-up to an email service or to anyone else. Before we start, we will update this page to name the service we use to send email and what it receives. If email starts after you join, our first message may arrive some time after you signed up.

To stop automated abuse, the sign-up service counts requests using a keyed, one-way hash of your network address. It is not linked to your sign-up.

Hosting and security logs

Like most websites, the services that host and protect this site automatically record technical details of each request in their operational and security logs: your IP address, the page requested, the time, the address of the page that linked you there, and the description your browser sends of itself. This site is hosted by GoDaddy and protected by GoDaddy's website firewall, which may also set a cookie when it checks a request for abuse. The sign-up service runs on Supabase, behind Cloudflare; its logs also record an approximate location derived from your IP address, such as city, region and network.

These logs are used to run, secure and troubleshoot the site, not for marketing. Each provider keeps them for the period its service sets.

How long we keep information

Sign-ups.

  • While email is not switched on, we keep a sign-up for up to 12 months from the day you joined. If email has not started by then, we delete it, and you are free to join again.
  • Once email starts, if we ask you to confirm your address and you do not confirm within 30 days of the confirmation email we send, we delete your sign-up.
  • While you are subscribed and the list is active, we keep your sign-up. If we retire the list, we delete its sign-ups within 90 days.
  • If you opt out, we stop any further email once we have processed your request, and delete your contact details within 30 days.
  • If you ask us to delete your sign-up, we delete it when we process your request.

What stays after a deletion. We keep a SHA-256 hash of your email address on our suppression list, and an entry in our record of opt-outs and deletions holding the same hash, the kind of request and its date. They let us keep an opt-out in force after a database restore and stop the address being added back by mistake, and they hold nothing else about you. A hash cannot simply be read back as your address, but it matches the address if it is submitted again. When a sign-up is deleted only because it expired, we take the address off the suppression list, so you can join again; the hash-only record of the deletion remains. After an opt-out or a deletion request, write to us if you want to rejoin.

Backups. Our database host, Supabase, may keep routine backups of the database. A deleted sign-up can remain in such a backup until it expires on Supabase's schedule. If we ever restore a backup, we re-apply every opt-out and deletion recorded since it was made.

Working copies. A list we export to carry out these steps stays on our own computer and is deleted within 7 days.

Analytics and logs. Microsoft and Google keep analytics data for the periods given under Analytics above. It is held by them, not in our database, and deleting your sign-up does not delete it. Hosting and security logs are kept for the period each provider sets.

The ReloEco application

ReloEco plans to open an application in which you could create an account and get reports for your own trips. It is not open, and nothing on this site creates an account in it. If it opens, it will have its own privacy policy, which will explain how it handles what you enter there, such as your destinations and travel dates.

Your choices

  • Ask us what we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct or delete it.
  • Ask us to take you off the BETA list.
  • Change your analytics choice at any time, as described above.

To make sure we act for the right person, we act on a request about a sign-up when it comes from the address that signed up. If you write from another address, we will reply to the signed-up address and act once the request is confirmed from there. We do not ask for identity documents or any other information to check a request, and we tell only the signed-up address whether it is on the list. What stays after a deletion is described under “How long we keep information”.
