FAQ

Common questions

Where does the data come from?

Mostly from public datasets published by US government agencies, such as NOAA, the EPA and FEMA, together with information from other organisations, such as the U.S. Drought Monitor, and packing and travel tips written by ReloEco. Each report lists its sources, so you can check a figure yourself.

Is this a weather forecast?

Not mainly. A Suitcase report can include a short-range forecast from the National Weather Service, but most of it describes conditions and the seasonal pattern around your dates, so it stays useful when you are booking months out. ReloEco is not an official forecast or emergency-warning service: for warnings, follow the National Weather Service and local authorities.

Does it work outside the United States?

Coverage is deepest where public environmental data is richest, which currently means the United States. Reports state their confidence level, and where coverage is thin for a location the report tells you plainly rather than guessing.

Is it medical advice?

No. ReloEco reports environmental conditions and what is commonly recommended for them. It is information to bring to a decision — including a conversation with your doctor — not a substitute for one.

What does it cost?

Joining the BETA list is free, and ReloEco charges for nothing today. If that changes, we will show the price before you pay for anything.

What do you do with my trip details?

On this site, the only trip detail we ask for is the destination you can type on the home page. If you then join the BETA list, it is stored with your sign-up; if you do not, this site does not keep it. We do not sell it. See the privacy page for specifics.
